SEC to launch electronic transfer of funds to boost financial market

Dr. Ore Sofekun, the president of Fund Managers Association of Nigeria (FMAN) has announced that the association was working side by side with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the transfer of funds electronically so as to boost financial inclusion.

This was disclosed at the annual workshop of Capital Market Correspondents Association (CAMCAN) of Nigeria at Badagry. She said this new development will ensure confidence building between investors and fund managers and help encourage savings.

Vice president, Strategy and Corporate Services, FMDQ, Ms. Kaodi Ugoji also said at the meeting that people were not exploring the opportunities in the capital market as compared to other countries outside.

Also, the National Coordinator-Elect of Independent Shareholders Association of Nigeria (ISAN) said the government needs to return confidence back to the capital market following the drastic reduction of the nation’s equities in the Stock Exchange market from N14 trillion down to N8.6 trillion,
