Nigeria’s Insurance Sector needs strong media support for image improvement just as the Insurance Industry Consultative Industry (IICC ) was formed to raise the profile of the industry, Funmi Babingtom-Ashaye, the Chairman, IICC has said delivering her welcome address at the ongoing 2018 IICC Media Retreat taking place in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

There are measures already put in place to promote the Industry, but because Insurance is highly technical, the public needs to be educated to gain their trust and commitments.

She explained that a major objective of the IICC is to circulate new and emerging industry regulation, ethics and professionalism, and financial literacy to enable the industry to contribute positively to the country’s GDP. That is the reason the sector needs the Insurance Journalists to work with them to assist the Industry to attain the appreciable image that it required.

The ICC Chairman said that insurance is important to the nation’s economic growth and therefore needs the media to collaborate with the industry to achieve better results.

She implore the media to spread the news of the forthcoming IICC conference coming up in July in Abuja to enable more participation from the stakeholders.
