Nigeria eyes top spot in Global Business rankings

The government has pledged commitment to moving Nigeria up by at least 20 places in the global Ease of Doing Business Rankings by the end of 2017.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah says the nation hopes to be among the first 100 countries before the end of this government.

He spoke at the inauguration the Board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) in Abuja on Thursday.

Wide ranging reforms
“Government is engaging in wide-ranging reforms aimed at diversifying the economy and attracting investment into various sectors of the economy,’’ the Minister stated.

According to him, government is working to ensure that Nigeria remains business-friendly, by creating an enabling environment for economic activities to thrive.

Nigeria’s ranking in the latest ease of doing business report by the World Bank for 2017 improved marginally from 170 to 169 out of the 190 countries surveyed.
