Stock Exchange capitalisation closes strong

Activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange opened for the month of August on a positive note.

The market ended the month of July on a negative note when it closed trading on Monday with a 2.77 percent loss.

However, the market reversed the loss by 2.43 percent when it traded 48.9 million shares worth 94 billion Naira in 5,602.00 deals.

The market capitalisation gained 302 billion Naira when it closed today at 12,6556 trillion Naira against yesterday’s closing of 12,354 trillion Naira.

The All Share Index opened at 35,847.75 basis points and closed at 36,720.62 basis points, gaining 872.87 basis points.

Gainers
LINKAGE ASSURANCE PLC opened transactions at 0.61kobo per share and closed at 0.67 kobo per share, making a gain 0.06 kobo or 9.84 percent.

NASCON ALLIED INDUSTRIES PLC opened transactions at N10.42 per share, closing today at N11.25 per share, thereby making a gain of 0.83 kobo or 7.97 percent.

DANGOTE CEMENT PLC opened transactions atN223.75 per share and closed at N240.00 per share, gaining N16.25 or 7.26percent.

Losers
On the losers’ side however, MORISON INDUSTRIES PLC opened transactions at N1.30 per share and closed at N1.18 per share, falling by 0.12 kobo or 9.23 percent.

FORTE OILPLC also fell when it opened transactions at N61.70 per share and closed at N57.00 per share, falling by N4.70 or 7.62 percent.

While ETERNA PLC opened at N3.80 per share and closed at N3.60 per share, falling by 0.20 kobo or 5.26 percent.
