Biomedical Pharmaceutical Marks 40 Years , Presents 22 New Syrups

Biomedical pharmaceutical expands production to 22 new syrups – Hon. ObasaThe  Biomedical Limited, an indigenous pharmaceutical company, says it is formally presenting 22 new syrups into the market  as part of its 40 years of existence in Nigeria.

Hon. Idowu Obasa, Chairman, Biomedical Limited,  made the disclosure at  media briefing in Lagos on Wednesday  to mark the 40th Anniversary of  the pharmaceutical company.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Biomedical is an indigenous pharmaceutical company in Nigeria specialising in the production of parenterals, otherwise known as infusions.

The company is located at Ilorin, Kwara.

“In all of its years of existence, Biomedical had focused on infusion production but in this its 40th year, the company is breaking into other products.

“First the syrups factory recently completed has started putting syrups in the market. We consider it a milestone.

“We are about to formally present 22 new syrups to the market with more to come,” Obasa said.

Speaking on the company’s feat, the chairman said that the courage of the original visioner of the company, Dr Farouk Abdulazeez , must be commended.

“At a time when most medicines were being imported into the country and even those being produced in Nigeria was dominated by foreign multinationals, a courageous Nigerian ventured into the manufacturing of intra-venous fluids.

“This anniversary offers us the opportunity to salute the courage of Dr Farouk Abdulazeez.

“Without his dogged determination, we will not be talking of 40 years of existence.

“We also thank the Bank of Industry  for offering assistance as far as the syrup factory of Biomedical is concerned.

“They went through the entire process clinically and professionally , and today, the 22 new syrups would be officially presented to the market.’’

According to Obassa, the syrups cut across medication for Malaria, Deworming, Vitamin-C,  Stomach Gas Management among others.

He  said that part of the activities for the 40th Anniversary on Aug. 27, 2021, is also to deworm no fewer than 400,000 children across the country.
