Arik Air Management resumed operations on local and international routes yesterday morning after protesting workers and unions called off the strike.

According to the Guardian, the airline had a slow start at the Lagos operations due to the scepticism of passengers to patronize the airline following earlier disappointment but due to limited passenger capacity of other airlines, passengers eventually made bookings at the Arik stand and several of its morning flights flew as scheduled.

A passenger, Tunde Adegbite said it was difficult coming back to the airline after the earlier disappointment but following the fully booked passenger capacity of other airlines, one had no choice but to return back to Arik.

Arik’s spokesman, Banji Ola said the airline had added extra flights to various local destinations between Wednesday, December 21^st, 2016 and Saturday, December 24^th, 2016 and had also upgraded the aircraft to a bigger capacity to accommodate the backlog of passengers affected by the strike.

Ola said that additional capacities have been added to flights of Lagos and Abuja to destinations such as Enugu, Asaba, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Benin, Warri, Uyo, Yola and others.

It was learnt that the airline management would pay all outstanding October salaries on or before December 23^rd while that of November would be paid on or before December 31^st.

Also, a committee to review the circumstances of sacked workers is to be inaugurated on January 10^th, 2017. It is to be made up of one member from each union and also from Arik Air.
