The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said it has reopened the Runway 22, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for operations after pulling out the Gulfstream 4 aircraft that skidded of the runway.

Recalled that the runway was partially closed for operations following the incident involving a Gulfstream 4 aircraft belonging to SkyBird at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 2200hours, September 12, 2018 .

The aircraft had skidded the runway while landing and consequently got stuck on the Runway End Safety Area (RESA),

An online statement issued by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Yakubu Henrietta said that FAAN has now reopened the runway to take arrivals and departures, subject to a reduced threshold of 3000 metres.

She assured airlines and passengers that the airport is safe for normal operations, adding that FAAN committed to its core values of safety, security and comfort.
