The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said that the Port Harcourt International Airport, which was closed for operation Saturday due to the incident involving Air Peace aircraft that skidded off the runway, has been re-opened .

This was disclosed in a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Yakubu Henrietta

“Following a skidding incident yesterday involving an Air Peace flight with registration number 5N BRN, flying from Abuja to Port Harcourt, the Port Harcourt International Airport runway has been cleared and the airport is now reopened for normal flight operations.

“The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has issued a Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) to that effect in line with standards and recommended practice.”

FAAN, she said is committed to her core values of safety, security and comfort.

Recalled that Air Peace B737 aircraft with registration number 5N-BRN with 94 passengers and six crew, flying from Abuja to Port Harcourt, Saturday, skidded off the Port Harcourt Airport runway.

All the passengers were evacuated alive and there were no casualties.
