Mr Dan’ya made the plea in a statement signed by his Director Press, Mr Aminu Abdullahi and issued in Sokoto, when he received over two hundred missing passport from National Hajj Commission of Sokoto pilgrims who got stuck in Madina, Saudi Arabia.

He said the Federal government should halt its intention to discontinue assistance  on Hajj affairs and have States and Private agencies to take charge instead.

The Amirul Hajj added that as Nigerians  still need the Nigerian government’s full involvement in the Affairs of hajj as the States have limited available resources to cater for the well-being of  pilgrims.

Mr Dan’iya commended the National Hajj Commission for their efforts in ensuring a smooth 2019 hajj exercise.

He advised the Commission to do more to improve conducive atmosphere for the Nigerian pilgrims in the forthcoming exercise.

Presenting the retrieved passports to Sokoto Amirul Hajj, Mr Maniru  Dan’iya, the representative of NAHCON, Ambassador Yahaya Shuaibu, said the passports were retrieved in a mixed up of different passport in Marina.

He said the mixed was as a result of introducing new Mutawif’s  in Madina and in due time they will cope and adjust with the drill.

Ambassador Shuaibu said the pilgrims was forced to travel to Makka for Hajj without the official documents.

He commended the understanding of the Saudi Officials on the road from Madina to Makka for allowing the pilgrims to travel without official documents.

He added that if not with the cooperation of Saudi authorities the pilgrims would have missed the just concluded Hajj.

Ambassador Shuaibu said information reaching the Commission disclosed that all the Passports were recovered and taken to Muassasa In Makka for continuous preparation to return them back to Nigeria as as scheduled.

Ambassador Shuaib also assured the Sokoto State Amirul Hajj that the Commission would look into some of the challenges faced by the pilgrims for improvement.
