With state of the art different fully automated machines, PIL is a spectacular pharmaceutical company by any measure but unfortunately this multi-billion Naira factory is under serious economic  threat due to many challenges it’s faces on daily basis, from deplorable state of roads surrounding the company, non availability of electricity and subsequent difficulty in generating power to  exchange rate instability, heavy import duty/taxes,  unfriendly government policies etc.

PIL has already lost 300 Million Naira capital due to these challenges observed one of the founding directors,  Prince Christopher Nebe  during a visit to the company on facility tour by the Health Writers Association of Nigeria HEWAN, adding that about N12 million is expended by the company monthly on diesel.

  Prince Nebe pointed out that the company  is in dire need of government’s assistance so as to continue to provide quality health care to Nigerians and the world through innovation, high quality standards and international best practices.

“Tell me a plant that can match this edifice. Our laboratory  is the most standard in this country.  The lab determines everything in a pharmaceutical company.  They are the policemen of the manufacturing plant but this edifice needs help.  Many factors are making Manufacturing in this country not encouraging for local manufacturers,” he said.

Nebe observed that local pharmaceutical companies do not the mechanism to source materials locally hence need zero duty on raw material importation as well as soft loans from government to ease production.

He also called on Nigerians to shun the culture of preferring foreign drugs to locally produced ones adding that Phamatex deliver pharmaceutical products of the highest quality using international best practices of Current Good Manufacturing Practice cGMP to guarantee potency, purity, efficacy and affordability for patients.

He also called on pharmacists in hospitals and other platforms to generate demand for Hovid products and Phamatex .

However, despite all these impediments, Phamatex Group, the sole distributor of Hovid products in Nigeria thrive to survive, they have soared more than some companies that existed years before it.

The  company has been in existence for 7years, and is engaged in the manufacturing, Marketing, and distribution of pharmaceutical products as well as importation and distribution of finished pharmaceutical products.

PIL current product portfolio comprises of 74 products, out of which 46 have been fully registered with NAFDAC while 28 are going through various stages of products development and registration.

Some of its products are Paratex paracetamol syrup /tablets,  Pilprofen ,  Famagyl,  Pilotrim , Erythrotex, Tenex, Kenazole, Wormout, Sildex , Lumapil, Neurotex etc.

According to the Plant  Manager, Pharmacists Ezekiel Ibidapo, the company is currently pursuing product pre-qualification with WHO products  of interest being Levofloxacin in 500m film coated tablets and Artermeter /Lumefantrine  80/480mg tablets.
