The new President/Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mr Edwin Igbiti has unveiled a three-point agenda for his administration.

He said his two years presidency will focus on building a sustainable Legacy .to ensure continuity while building on the works of Past Presidents of the Institute.

Igbiti made the disclosures In his acceptance message delivered at the occasion of his investiture as the 51st President of CIIN held today at the Continental Hotel, Victoria Island.

According to him, We, in the Insurance Industry and Institute, must continue to be at the frontiers of these technological innovations and trends in order to thrive and drive impact of our endeavours and ventures. It is in this light that the theme and focus of my tenure will be Building a Sustainable Legacy..

Igbiti said the choice of the theme was borne out of the need for continuity to sustain and build on the works of Past Presidents of the Institute.

This, he stated, will guarantee the Institute to continue to meet the needs and aspirations of its members despite current global uncertainties.

In order to unlock ithe potential of the above mentioned agenda, he said his Presidency will focus on a three-point agenda, namely: Digital Reinforcement of Institute’s Operations; Insurance Awareness for all – Grassroot, Youths and Insuring Public and Infrastructural Development.

He said there is need to continuously upgrade and innovate the Institute’s processes to deliver excellent customer experiences and members’ satisfaction, noting that efforts have been made by my predecessors to revamp the digital operations of the Institute.

“My projection is that my tenure as President of the CIIN will facilitate the transformation of the CIIN Secretariat with the state-of-the-art facilities that would stimulate digital operations and processes, enhance excellent work culture which results in quality customer experiences in all our deliverables. Smart Technologies and digital solutions would be deployed to achieve this together with a viable business model,” he added.

He said “the recent developments in the world in general and in Nigeria in particular demands strong partnership to move the profession and the industry forward, adding that this can only be successfully executed collectively.

“The Institute has many programmes in place aimed at creating insurance awareness and training members to be world class insurance professionals, but I cannot achieve the success on my own. Hence, I want to seize this opportunity to appeal to you for your support to help drive the Institute to lofty heights.

On the socio-economic situation in Nigeria, CIIN President said “The need to curb the menace of insecurity and other crimes require that we collaborate with all tiers of government with the aim of re-emphasising the essence of insurance as the infrastructural pillar for the growth and development of country.

While imploring his Professional Colleagues to collaborate with him in this new dispensation that the task ahead calls for teamwork and effective collaboration., he thanked all and sundry for their support..

Earlier in his opening speech, the immediate past President of the Institute, Sir Muftau Oyegunle expressed happiness to have Mr. Edwin Igbiti; a professional colleague and friend as his successor after two years of service as my Deputy President.

Sir Oyegunle said that Igbiti has proven to be a man of ethics and professionalism and expressed gratefulness to God “who has preserved us to witness this day and this remarkable occasion.”

He said “During my tenure as the 50th President, Mr. Igbiti’s comradeship and understanding is one worth applauding, he exhibited professionalism and integrity which made the administration a sensation and with good memories for the future.

“Mr. Igbiti is a tenacious and resilient leader and his reign will be beneficial to the Institute.  I can confidently say this because of his trajectory of success in various positions and capacities occupied in the industry.

“Mr. Igbiti, as you embark upon your new responsibilities, I urge you not to rest on your oars. The reward for success is more hardwork. This office provides you another opportunity to employ your wealth of expertise to broaden the scope of the Institute and contribute hugely to the growth of the insurance industry,” Sir Oyegunle said.
