Aguleri Celebrates Ovala Fiesta in Grand Style

Aguleri Kingdom in Anambra State kicked off the new year with a bang as it celebrated the 2026 Ovala Fiesta in grand style
The Traditional Ruler, His Royal Majesty Igwe Dr. Michael Chukwuneme Idigo (Eze Idigo V Eze Udo), marked the 6th Ovala on the throne which started in 1900 , with the theme “Ovala Uwa Ovuu”
In his address, Eze Idigo V urged the people of Aguleri to continue being law-abiding citizens cherishing unity, tradition, and joy
He emphasized the importance of embracing Artificial Intelligence, ICT, and skill acquisition for youth development while shunning criminality, drugs, and cultism . “Anybody in the world now without the knowledge of artificial intelligence will regret it in future,” he warned 

The Igwe also commended stakeholders for maintaining peace between Aguleri and Umueri, saying it’s crucial for progress .
He praised Aguleri indigenes who have contributed to the community’s development particularly those providing free education and other provisions to the people
Chief Amaechi Akorah, Vice Chairman, Aguleri Royal Cabinet noted that the 2026 Ovala celebration marked a big transformation from “what we used to be to what we ought to become”
. He highlighted the significance of preserving Aguleri’s culture and tradition , saying, “Our culture is our identity” .

He praised Eze Udo for his efforts in maintaining peace and security in Aguleri and collaboration across boundary with community communal in Omombala noting that Aguleri can not be secured if Umueri and Nando is not secured.
Responding to journalists, he said” our culture is our identify, that God has placed it on us and we lived by them.”
Advising the youths to adhere to Igwe’s advise that it is clarion call for them to discern enough to know what to choose so that they will not waste their lives on drugs.

Anthony Idigo, a surveyor, commended the Eze Udo for his milestone in promoting peace and progress in the community .
The celebration was attended by dignitaries , including government officials , traditional leaders , and community members.
The Ovala Fiesta featured traditional dances , music , and cultural displays showcasing Aguleri’s rich heritage As the celebration came to a close, Eze Idigo V wished the people of Aguleri a prosperous new year , urging them to continue working together for the community’s progress
