Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Jamb says the Admission examinations to Tertiary Institutions otherwise known as the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for 2017/2018 will hold in May.

The Registrar of the Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made this known in Abuja on Thursday, at the Nigerian Academy of letters 2017 Annual Lecture, organised by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

Professor Oloyede said the sales of the Jamb Examinations forms was delayed this year following the need to change the techniques involved in the sales of forms.

He said that the board is determined to plan adequately and ensure that transparency and equitability is deployed to the conduct of the exams.

He added that individuals selling the Jamb examination forms in the society were selling fake forms, and the board intends to involve Banks in the sales of the forms.

“For instance, for those trying to hoard recharged cards, we will not use recharge cards or cyber cafes, we are going to use existing banks and we will make sure that there will be no off line registration,” Professor Oloyede said.

He added that there is always a mis-match of student’s pictures by the cyber cafe attendants, where male candidates and data are referred to as female and causing hitches at the examination centres.

“We are studying all the loopholes and we are trying to block them. Let me confess however that I am promising a perfect conduct of examinations or hitch free exams, we will plan very well and we will be transparent and equitable,” the Registrar added.

“I can understand the level of anxiety and you would agree with me that if we had started the sales of the forms we wouldn’t have known that individuals are involved in selling fake forms, we are trying to sanitise the system, as soon as the sanitisation is completed we will commence the sales of jamb forms.”
“Many people forgot that the students will be tested for 2017/2018 exams which will be used in August/September, the students are not in examination mood they are just in lst term of S.S.3, don’t forget that if you conduct the exams when they are not in exam mood that’s another problem,” he further added.

Professor Oloyede said there would be no increase in the sales of the form, adding that it will be inhumane.
“That will be inhumane; if I have my way I will reduce the cost, I will not be part of anything that will inflict pains on Nigerians,” he emphasized.
