Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono ltam has disclosed that over 200 criminal suspects have been arrested within his 60 days in office.
The CP revealed this on Friday, while parading 19 suspected criminals made up of kidnappers, armed men, cultists and others.
“Out of the number of the suspects, the police have secured five convictions while others are still undergoing trials”.
According to ltam, the police in the state have rescued four kidnapped victims and recovered several vehicles which are still undergoing investigations.
He stated that he will ensure that every person must account for his action and warned those engaging and parading themselves in criminal activities under the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) to have a rethink on their activities and look for something doing.
He noted that police under his watch is developing a mechanism that within 10 minutes, there will be response to any distress call.
He warned those who think that crime pays to desist from it as police will do everything legally possible to ensure that Anambra State is safe and secured.
He maintained that the command is coming up with all inclusive law enforcement operatives in the state which everyone will be part of, adding that no village in Anambra will not boast of having vigilante operatives.
Answering questions from newsmen, he told them to disabuse their minds that an investigation will be distorted if somebody in authority calls to release somebody, saying that every case would be treated on its merits and nothing more as the work of police is not in calls.
