Insecurity in the southeast has deprived us development—– Obi

The outgoing  chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo world wide Obi Chukwuemekalum Udodeme has cried out  that the level of insecurity in the southeast is out of hands.
He disclosed this during a town hall  end of the year meeting held in awka recently.
Obi said insecurity in the southeast has deprived it of   development, setback , that a lot of  killings has taken it back and shrink her economy.
He  decried  that people from the Southeast are afriad of coming for Christmas  celebration for fear of being adopted by kidnappers.
He stated that things are now happening in igbo land, ” people are kidnapping  their brothers and sisters, keeping  them in the bush and demanding ransom. Before now rich men would return home during Christmas and other occasions, spend their money in the communities and even train some youths in their bussiness, but today,  the case is different.” He concluded.”
Obi lamented  the rate of marriage rites been conducted in the cities instead of igboland , according to the igbo customs and tradition. Also, that burial of our love ones are done in the cities.
He called on  all and sundry  to come together and battle this monster called kidnapping , according to him”, all the criminal elements in our communities are known to us and we should  stop  protecting  and hiding them.”
In his own speech, a house member representing  Anaocha constituency  at the Anambra state house of Assembly  Hon. Ejike Okechukwu  said Ndigbo is responsible for what is happening in the southeast, according to him, “Ndi igbo celebrate wealth working knowing the source of it.”
He pointed out that before, if your a rich man, the first question would be what is the person doing for a living, secondly where did the money come from? Regretting that today a child will come home with a car insted of parents interrogating him to know the source of it, rather he will be celebrated.
In his worlds”, ndigbo make money, and do not pack money, nothing fails from heaven, sky, you work hard to make money, we know the bad people among us in our various communities, those who enjoy illegal money but instead of condemning them, we hail them as model’s, he said.”
He therefore called for everybody to come together to fight kidnapping activities surround the zone as the governors cannot do it alone.
Earlier in his speech, permanent  secretary in the government house Dr Nwabufo Nwankwo said insecurity issue in the southeast need to be tackcle holistically, not for government, that sometimes  in our society, we know the bad people and where they live “some keep them , buy food for them, even go errand for them”.
He encouraged ndigbo to continue with apprenticeship( igba- boy) which  we are known for and industry of hard work to enable us achieve our desire goals instead of being engaged into bad activities in the society.
