Don’t Choose Moneybags Over Competence; Youth Group Tells APGA, Anambra South

No Comments Share:
As the battle for late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s seat hots up, youth organization in Anambra State, “Youths For Credible Democrats Of Nigeria” (YCDON), has called on the national and state working committees of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), as well as Governor Charles Soludo, and the people of Anambra South senatorial district to send the right person to the senate.
Specifically, the group suggested that the former managing director of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Chief Jude Emecheta, who is vying for the position under the platform of APGA is the most suitable to fit into the big shoes left by late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, and also offer quality representation that Anambra South and Anambra State is yearning for.
National Coordinator of the youth organization, Prince Okeke Chinemelu Godwin (Esq), made the plea on Tuesday, December 17, while fielding questions from newsmen in Ekwulobia.
He suggested that among several aspirants contesting from different party platforms to replace late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, only Dr. Emecheta has the right character to give Anambra South the best representation.
He said, “Chief (Dr) Jude Emecheta (Nwachinemelu), with his impressive qualifications, and experience, is the most ideal person to represent Anambra South senatorial district at the national assembly.
“Chief Emecheta is a highly educated personality, a seasoned politician, and complete party man. He possesses exceptional qualities that make him an outstanding leader. He is an outspoken advocate. He possesses extensive grassroots network and experience in serving the ruling party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), in various capacities, which make him the right man for the job.”
Okeke also noted that among Emecheta’s many political experiences, he was a committee member that drafted blueprint on tourism for Nigeria in 1992, and also successfully advised and managed strategic political decisions, including helping to set up Signage and Advertisement Agency in Anambra State.
Late Ifeanyi Ubah, according to Okeke, achieved a lot as a senator; including sponsoring a bill for the establishment of the South East Development Commission, which the five Southeastern states are enjoying presently. He therefore, urged the APGA party and the people of Anambra South to look beyond sentiment and money, by electing Senator Ubah’s successor in a person that will work – not a bench wormer.
He said, “Emecheta’s resilience, exceptional character and unwavering commitment to leadership, and passion for progress makes him a dependable ally and a driving force for positive change. As a respected political leader, his passion for the well-being of others is truly inspiring.
“Presently, APGA, and of course, people of Anambra South are availed the opportunity to choose light over darkness. Everyone is aware that moneybags are also on the parade for the senatorial position, and the temptation to choose money over competence and character is high. Despite that, we believe Anambra South could still do the right thing.”
