The Anambra State Police Command played host to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The IGP was in the state to witness the signing of Peace Accord among flag bearers of the political parties participating in the forthcoming governorship election.
Upon arrival, the IGP, who was ably represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Department, DIG Benjamin Okolo, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Operations Department, DIG Yakubu Kwazhi, was warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu.
A delegation of senior officers, led by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13, Ukpo-Dunukofia, AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, also welcomed the visiting team.
In his address to officers and men of the command, the IGP commended CP Orutugu’s leadership and proactive security strategies, praising the command’s robust inter-agency collaboration and continuous engagement with stakeholders across the state.
The IGP urged officers to remain disciplined, vigilant, and apolitical, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a peaceful, credible, and secure electoral process.
During the visit, DIG Benjamin Okolo, in the company of AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, decorated Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Emmanuel Ogbuanya, who was recently elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The promotion was in recognition of DCP Ogbuanya’s outstanding service record, dedication, and professionalism.
The IGP congratulated the newly promoted officer, charging him to see his elevation as a call to greater responsibility and to uphold the core values of integrity, dedication, and excellence.
AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter and CP Ikioye Orutugu noted that the IGP’s visit would boost the morale of officers and men of the command, enhancing their motivation for improved security service delivery during and after the elections.
DCP Emmanuel Ogbuanya expressed deep appreciation to the IGP for the honour and privilege of his promotion, pledging renewed commitment to the vision and mission of the force.
