The Oba of Benin proposes to establish farms for the community, sell produce at low prices

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II has recently disclosed his plans to establish farms in various communities across the kingdom. Also, produce harvested from the farms would be sold at lower rates than the prevailing market prices. Speaking at his first meeting with his people at his palace, he told the people his ascension to the throne was an omen of good things to come and also revealed that the objective of the meeting was to discuss plans to move the kingdom forward.

He also told the people that the activities of the Fulani herdsmen were being investigated and that most panels set up to settle disputes have been dissolved since most decisions from them were found to be partial. The activities of the Community Development Association (CDAs) were condemned by the Oba who further stated that the youths were becoming a menace to the society.

He also pointed out that the reign of unjust Chiefs who preyed on the poor was over and people who will settle land disputes would be of reputable character.
