The Commissioner of Works, Transport and Housing, Malam Hàssan Mahmud stated this during an inspection tour of the road project in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria.

It could be recalled that Kaduna International Airport was chosen by the Federal Government to be used as temporal International Airport for a period of six weeks pending the completion of work in Abuja Airport.

The Commissioner said the road construction became necessary in order to ease the journey for Abuja bound passengers who will prefer to travel to Abuja by train from the Airport.

He explained that, in order to meet deadline, two construction companies were awarded the project to take off at different points to eventually meet at the centre of the road.

In the same vein, The Controller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede stated that the service was ready to deploy its personnel to Kaduna International Airport for effective security checks after the closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in March.
