Nigerian Stock Exchange market capitalization down by N352bn

Activities on the floor of the Nigerian stock exchange has closed for today on a negative note.

Today being the first day of trading after the weekend as well as the last day of trading for the most things of July, saw the market closing with a 2.77 per cent loss.

The market capitalisation which opened at 12,705 trillion Naira, closed at 12,353 trillion Naira, having a loss of 352 billion Naira.

The All Share Index also fell when it opened activities at 36,864.71 basis points but closed at 35,844.00 basis points, falling therefore by 1,020.71 basis points.

The volume of shares traded stood at 4.9 million, valued at 5.3 billion Naira exchanged in 5,558 deals.

Gainers

The gainers’ table  in today’s activities was led by DANGOTE SUGAR REFINERY PLCwhich opened at N10.86 per share and closed at N11.97 per share to gain N1.11or 10.22 per cent.

Then NASCON ALLIED INDUSTRIES PLCfollowed with an opening price of N9.46 per share to close today at N10.42 per share,  gaining 0.96 kobo or 10.15 per cent.

C&I LEASING Plc which was at the exchange today to present it’s facts behind the figures, opened trading at 0.69 kobo per share and closed at 0.75 kobo per share, gaining 0.06 kobo or 8.70 per cent.

C&I Leasing Plc which has a workforce of over 5,500 employees, stated today that they plan to sustain their current upward trajectory and double their earnings over the next2-3 years, saying that they plan to achieve this goal by effective execution of their long term contracts in the Marine sub-sector of oil and gas industry and other industries they support while also exploring potential growth sectors for viable investment opportunities.

The company which has over the years evolved into a leading leasing and other ancillary services provider in Nigeria, also operate in Ghana and UAE.

The company attributed it’s non payment of dividend in the last one year to necessary decision making aimed at improving the company as the monies meant for dividend were put into further growing the company.

The executives of the company also sounded the closing gong signifying the close of trading activities on the exchange for today.

Losers

CEMENT CO. OF NORTH.NIG. PLCopened today at N9.22 and closed at N8.33 having a loss of 0.89 kobo or 9.65 per cent.

DANGOTE CEMENT PLC opened today at N235.51 and closed at N223.75 falling by N11.76 or 4.99 per cent.

While GUARANTY TRUST BANK PLC. opened at N41.10 per share and closed at N39.05 per share,  losing N2.05 or 4.99 per cent.
