LASPOTECH Radio Station Will Soon Go To Air

The Special Adviser to Governor Ambode on Communities and Communications, Mr. Ahmed Omoyele Sulaimon has said that the community radio station established by the State Government in one of the state-owned tertiary institutions, Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu would soon go on air.

Emphasising that the radio station is equipped with modern-day facilities and state-of-the-art broadcasting equipment he said that the radio station would provide practical knowledge for the students of Mass Communication department of the institution .

Sulaimon, who stated this during an inspection tour to LASPOTECH Radio recently, said
“I want to encourage the students of this institution to take advantage of the Youth programs with other institutions for the exchange of ideas and equip themselves to compete with other students in different parts of the State and the country at large”, the Special Adviser counseled.

He implored the management of LASPOTECH to emulate the broadcasting pattern of the Lagos Traffic Radio being one of the best innovations of the State government.

He also seized the opportunity of the visit to call on students of the institution and the neighbouring communities to protect all government projects within their communities and take ownership of them.

Sulaimon said that the State Government was keen on making Lagos a Smart City, saying this remains a focal point in the agenda of the State Government.

“All hands must be on deck to achieve this goal”, he charged.

The Project Manager of the facility, Engr. Mohammad Mehri said that the Radio Station has been completed and would be handed over to the State government soon.

He explained that the radio station which has the approval of the National Broadcasting Corporation, NBC is equipped with an acoustically tested sound-proof studio, an 80ft Mast installation as well as modern-day equipment found in any standard radio broadcast station.

Earlier in his own remarks, the Dean of the School of Communication and Liberal Arts, Barrister Adebayo Alake, commended the State Government for providing the facility which he said has been the dream of the institution for a long time and pledged the continued support of the Lagos Polytechnic community to the State government.
