Aisha Buhari Bags World Leadership Prize

Image result for aisha buhariWife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has been awarded with World Leadership Prize by Ajou University, South Korea.

She also had a multimedia center at the University named after her.
The event took place at the Dasan Hall of the University, Suwon, South Korea on Tuesday 14th August, 2018.
The World Leadership Prize, according to President of Ajou University, Professor Hyungju Park, was instituted to acknowledge good leadership examples, such as that exhibited by wife of the President through her Future Assured Programme.
Good leadership, he said is essential in securing the lives of common people, especially women and children.

Good leadership, he maintained, should be recognized worldwide so that it could rise up against the menace of bad leadership.

 He therefore believed that the award to Mrs. Buhari will encourage leaders to aspire to good leadership.
Professor Park said, the greatness of a nation lies in how much people live secure and happy lives, quoting in reference, Mrs. Buhari’s mantra “if there is no corruption in governance and public life, there would be enough resources in any nation to meet the needs of the common people including women and children”.

Mrs. Buhari in her acceptance speech expressed appreciation to the University for finding her worthy of the World Leadership Prize and promised that the award will spur her to continue with her passion, not only in Nigeria but wherever she has opportunity.

She thanked the President of Nigeria, her husband for his support in carrying out her humanitarian activities.

The decision to also name a Multimedia Hall after Aisha Buhari, as pointed out by Professor Han Ho, Dean of College of Humanities, followed recognition of her endeavor to protect human rights and educate people and the need to immortalize her name for the sake of posterity.

Dr. Hajo Sani, Senior Special Assistant to the President and Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu of South Korea expressed appreciation for the honour done to the wife of the President and to Nigeria by extension.

Highlight of the event was unveiling of the plague by Mrs. Buhari as she commissioned the Aisha Buhari Hall.
