Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) is to commence the review of its regulations on April 4.

As a result, the bureau will host a two-day Stakeholders Forum to review its proposed Civil Aviation Regulations of 2019, on April 4 –5, 2019 at Radisson Blu, Ikeja, Lagos State.

An online statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs, AIB, Tunji Oketunbi, explained that the aim of the forum is to engage stakeholders on the proposed amendments to the Civil Aviation (Investigation of Air Accidents and Incidents) Regulations, 2016 and discuss the promotion of aviation safety.

He stated that the forum will attract stakeholders from different segments of the aviation sector to deliberate on the Bureau’s amended regulations, which will guide the agency in carrying out its statutory functions and activities.

The statement quoted the Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of AIB, Engr. Akin Olateru saying, ‘We are amending our regulations to meet global standards, and the stakeholders input are of great importance.

The review is in conformity with international best practices.

The gathering is to enable the Bureau review its legal backing as to its duties and processes.

The two-day meeting, according to the statement will also feature a stakeholders conference, where safety and other critical issues will be deliberated upon by the participants.

Among the dignitaries and speakers expected are : Hon. Minister of State (Aviation), Senator Hadi Sirika,  Senator Bala Na’Allah, Director General, Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera, Managing  Director, Aero Contractor, Capt. Ado Sanusi, Group Managing Director NAHCO Aviance, Mrs Tokunbo Fagbemi among others.
