AIICO, NGO, Donate Relief Packages to Underprivileged in Lagos

Concerned with the wellbeing of the underprivileged in the Country, AIICO Insurance PLC recently partnered with ‘We Stand Foundation’ to bring relief and succour to the lives of some indigents in Iwaya community, Yaba, Lagos.

The ’Feeding Relief Programme’ catered for 300 families within the community with relief packages which include a few of food items and reusable nose masks.

It will be recalled that AIICO organised a similar programme during the lockdown period where food and other health and safety packages were distributed to people in different communities to mitigate the impact.

The Managing Director/CEO of AIICO, Mr. Babatunde Fajemirokun, said the gesture was in line with its corporate culture of touching lives and impacting communities.

“This endeavour is reflective of our corporate culture of touching lives and impacting communities. These are challenging times and we are mindful of the impact. We have a long-term plan in place to ensure the sustainability of these efforts,” he said.

Also commenting, AIICO’s Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Manager, Abimbola Shobanjo, said AIICO saw the wellbeing of the underprivileged as a necessity for them to carry on with keeping safe in face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said: “It was indeed a great delight to bring smiles to the faces of these people. Besides solving hunger, we also considered their wellbeing a high priority in view of the need to continue to keep safe. We leverage on key partners to spot opportunities and drive these initiatives.”
