Kaduna : Terrorists Kill Kidnapped Catholic Priest, One Escape

One of the two abducted priests of the Kafanchan Diocese, Very Reverend Father John Cheitnum has been killed by his abductors, while the other, Reverend Father Donatus Cleopas has escaped from the kidnappers and has reunited with the diocese.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chancellor of Kafanchan Diocese, Reverend Father Emmanuel Okolo.

According to the statement, Reverend Father Cheitnum was gruesomely murdered by his abductors on the same day of his abduction July 15, but his corpse was later discovered decomposed on Tuesday 19 July.

Reverend Father John Cheitnum was abducted from the Rectory of Christ the King Parish, Yadin Gura in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he went for a programme.

Until his death, he was the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Jam’a LGA.

The Chancellor of Kafanchan Diocese, further said that burial has been slated for Thursday, July 21, at the Cathedral of Saint Peters, Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The diocese has declared two-day mourning for the priest and solicits prayers for the repose of his soul.
