Chukwuemeka Ewewuzie Calls on Anambra State Government to ensure facilities are made accessible to disability including those on wheelchair

Anambra State Government has been called to ensure that roads, sidewalks, pedestrian crossing and all other facilities made for public use to be made accessible to and usable by persons living with disability including those on wheelchair.
The call was made by the Chairman, Anambra State Disability Right Commission,Barr.Chukwuemeka Ezewuzie during an Advocacy visit by the Commission to the Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barr. Chike Maduekwe in his office.
He said that there is need for a special features of pedestrian part of the road for people with disability to enable them walk freely on the major roads in the State without obstruction.
Presenting copies of the Commission’s Law, tagged:- “Anambra State of Nigeria Disability Rights Law (2018) to the Chairman of the Board,Barr.Ezewuzie emphasized that the relevant authority or individual responsible for the approval of building plan shall not approve the plan of public building if the plan does not make provisions for accessibility facilities in line with the building Code provided by the Commission.
Barr.Ezewuzie applaud the Executive Governor of Anambra State,Prof.Chukwuna Soludo for his vision and relentless efforts to bring Anambra State to a Mega City.
In his own response, the Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board,Barr.Chike Maduekwe thanked members of the Commission for the visit, ensuring them that the Board is ready to work with the Commission and to make sure that their request is granted.
He also urged the public to submit their building plans to the Board which must be approved by the Commission in compliance with the Law.
