PenCom to Nigerian: Get A Pension Scheme Now So You Don’t Suffer At Old Age

Here is a piece of advice to all working class Nigerian from the National Pension Commission (PENCOM): key into a suitable pension scheme to reduce the rate of poverty at old age in the country.

PenCom’s Head of Corporate Communication, Peter Aghohowa, gave this advice during the commission’s awareness forum at the 33rd Edition of the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair at Tafawa Balewa Square .
These are his words: “We are here to sensitise the public on the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and the Micro Pension Plan (MPP) and why they should key into it for their future benefit.
“We also encourage Nigerians to revert to their Pension Fund Administrators (PFA’s) to update their record and also recapture to enable a saemless process in  the ongoing data clean up, ” he said.
Aghahowa noted that the major product introduced to the populace at the fair was the recently launched MPP
for the self employed .
He further explained that the plan was introduced to have the self employed inculcated into the pension arrangement scheme in order to capture a large chunk of working population in Nigeria.
The scheme, he said will improve the standard of living for the self employed on retirement.
